Tackling drainage issues and creating a clean, low-maintenance front yard starts with solid site preparation. In South San Francisco, we partnered with a homeowner to transform their uneven lawn into a durable, stylish space ready for artificial turf and pavers — setting
the stage for long-term performance and easy upkeep.
We started by removing several inches of existing topsoil to get down to solid ground — setting the site up for proper flow that directs water away from the home. Once we had a clean slate, we installed a durable drainage system to manage runoff and prevent future pooling or erosion. With drainage squared away, we imported, placed and compacted aggregate base material to build a strong, stable base that would support both the artificial turf and the upcoming paver installation.
We didn’t stop there — to keep things looking sharp for years to come, we laid down filter fabric to suppress weeds beneath the new turf. With careful grading and compaction at every step, we made sure the yard would drain properly while providing a smooth surface ready for landscaping.
