As we wrapped up 2025, our team closed out the year with a project for one of our favorite clients so far – a full foundation excavation for a residential home addition in San Jose, CA. The homeowners reached out for an estimate to prepare the site for the upcoming addition, requiring precision excavation and grading and clean material offhaul. Our detailed proposal and no-nonsense pricing won us the contract, and we quickly mobilized to complete the work on schedule.
Comprehensive Foundation Prep
The project scope included all essential phases of residential foundation preparation. Our crew started by grading the main foundation pad, creating a level, compacted base per plan that was ready for vapor barrier install. Our work set the foundation for a clean crawl space, making installation and maintenance of the addition a breeze.
Next, we excavated the perimeter wall footings. To help the client save some costs on the concrete scope, we dug the footing walls “neat” so only a minimal amount of formwork would be required. We used a laser to precisely lay out the walls and establish elevations for the excavation.
Finally, we used an auger to drill an 18″ shaft for a pier footing that will be used to support the main floor beam of the addition.

During the excavation, we consistently managed the spoils generated and offhauled them to a regulated and compliant dump site for proper re-use.
